PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain both an assist function and a back torque limiter function by a simple structure in a multiple disk clutch comprising a plurality of driving friction disks engaged with a clutch outer, a plurality of driven friction disks engaged with a clutch inner and alternately disposed with the driving friction disks, and an elastic member for making friction disk groups press-contacted in the axial direction. SOLUTION: The multiple disk clutch comprises a first cam plate disposed at a driven shaft; a second cam plate and a third cam plate disposed on both sides of the first cam plate which are non-rotatable relatively to the inside of the clutch inner and independently slidable in the driven shaft direction; an assist cam mechanism provided between the first cam plate and the second cam plate which increases pressing forces to the friction disk groups when the rotating force of a drive shaft exceeds the rotating force of the driven shaft; and a back torque limiter cam mechanism provided between the first cam plate and the third cam plate which reduces the pressing forces to the friction disk groups when the rotating force of the driven shaft exceeds the rotating force of the drive shaft.
