PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power line communication system that prevents a communication characteristic from dropping and a bypass connection device. SOLUTION: First and second communication equipment 2 and 3 are connected to respective power receptacles A2 and C2 of branch system distribution lines A and C of respective different systems distributed by a power distribution board 54. The bypass connection device 4 which allows a power line communication signal to pass through but does not allow commercial power to pass through is subjected to bypass connection between both power receptacles A2 and E1 by respectively connecting a pair of power plugs 43 of the connection device 4 to the power receptacles A2 and E1.
