PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wave protection structure which is constructed at a low cost in a short construction period, contributes to relative easy securement of a plot therefor and quick land improvements, and sufficiently prevents damage of a tidal wave or a tsunami. SOLUTION: The wave protection structure 1 is provided with self-standing piles 2, 2, etc. having their upper portions protruded from the ground, and a plurality of blocks 3, 3, etc. having formed therein holes 3a, 3a, etc. for inserting the upper portions of the self-standing piles 2, 2, etc., and constructed by arranging the blocks 3 while the upper portions of the self-standing piles 2, 2, etc. are inserted into the holes 3a, 3a, etc. thereof, respectively. According to the wave protection structure 1, the blocks 3, 3, etc. are arranged side by side at intervals, and a gap between the blocks 3, 3 adjacent to each other is formed into a slit S such that its width is tapered from a front side against which anaseism collides, to a rear side opposite to the front side.
