A pharmaceutical composition is provided to show significantly improved therapeutic effect on gastrointestinal diseases than that of teprenone and decrease the side effects by comprising the teprenone, a dried extract of Magnolia officinalis REHD. et WILS., and a dried extract of Atractylodes japonica in a specific ratio. A pharmaceutical composition for treating gastrointestinal diseases comprises 25-50 mg of teprenone, 20-50 mg of a dried extract of Magnolia officinalis REHD. et WILS., and 25-100 mg of a dried extract of Atractylodes japonica as one dosage. The composition is formulated into tablet or soft capsule.
