PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical scanner that can, to the utmost, prevent performance deterioration due to change in ambient temperature even if the number of sensors installed is reduced. SOLUTION: In the optical scanner, luminous fluxes from a plurality of light sources are deflected to both left and right sides with a single polygon mirror 5, with the deflected luminous fluxes guided to a photoreceptor drum 50 by means of a first scanning lens 11, mirrors 21-28, and a second scanning lens 12. In the optical scanner, there are arranged an EOS sensor 31B for detecting a scanning completion timing by receiving the luminous fluxes in the left upper optical path By of the polygon mirror 5, and an SOS sensor 34A for detecting a scanning starting timing by receiving the luminous fluxes in the right upper optical path Bk.
