PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photochromic dye developing color by irradiation with visible light and quickly fading to the non-colored state in a dark place. SOLUTION: The photochromic compound is expressed by general formula (I) (A<SB>1</SB>, A<SB>2</SB>and A<SB>3</SB>are each a 5-membered ring constituting a 6π-electron system; B<SB>1</SB>and B<SB>2</SB>are each a functional group composed of≥5 atoms, containing a cyclic compound and bonding to the 2-site of the groups A<SB>2</SB>and A<SB>3</SB>; and R<SB>1</SB>, R<SB>2</SB>and R<SB>3</SB>are each an arbitrary substituent).
