<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To trim an image to a panoramic size while taking, especially, a blank area into consideration. <P>SOLUTION: A face detector 10 detects the face of at least one person included in the image, and a main subject specifying unit 12 specifies at least one main subject from the at least one face. A blank area detector 14 detects a blank area from the image. A composition determining unit 16 determines a composition for trimming the image to a panoramic size based upon the position of the main subject and the position of the blank area when the blank area is detected, or on the position of the main subject when no blank area is detected. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
