<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and an electrifying bias adjusting method by which electrifying bias is adjusted at any time whether it is the time when an image is formed or the time when an image is not formed. <P>SOLUTION: By adjusting peak-to-peak voltage Vpp of AC by AC voltage within twice or more as high as electrification start voltage Vth electrifying the photoreceptor that is an image carrier, an abnormal image such as surface staining is not formed even when image forming operation is performed when adjusting.
