<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lessen the work required for correcting displacement. <P>SOLUTION: Contradictory correction processing A and correction processing B are performed for original image data to generate nominal image data which is then stored. When only the correction processing A is performed for the original image, the correction processing A is left as it is in the nominal image data, and the correction processing B is returned to the state before correction. When only the correction processing B is performed for the original image, the correction processing A is returned to the state before correction in the nominal image data, and the correction processing B is left as it is. If a defect is not generated under a state where both correction processing A and correction processing B are performed, content of the original image is simply approached even if any one of the correction processing A or correction processing B is reset and the possibility of generating a defect is low.
