PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for effectively producing a vinylic polymer having a functional group at the terminal with a small amount of a catalyst. SOLUTION: The method for producing the vinylic polymer (I) involves using (B) a reducing agent in combination when producing the vinylic polymer (I) having (A) an olefin compound added to the terminal by adding the olefin compound (A) having an alkenyl group with low polymerizability to an atom-transfer radical polymerization system. Preferably, the olefin compound (A) has a functional group, and the vinylic polymer (I) having the olefin compound (A) added to the terminal has the functional group at the terminal.
