PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricating oil which is excellent in the balance of lubricity suitable for use as various lubricating oils, low temperature flowability, high flash point and low viscosity characteristics, and is comprised of an alicyclic dicarboxylate. SOLUTION: The lubricating oil contains at least one sort of alicyclic dicarboxylate represented by general formula (1), wherein R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>may be the same or different and are each an alkyl group of a 10-18C straight or branched chain, A represents a cyclohexane ring or cyclohexene ring, X is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, and trans/cis ratio of the dicarboxylate is 30-100/70-0 (area% by liquid chromatography).
