PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image special effect apparatus for executing illumination effects corresponding to various image special effects, and for achieving miniaturization. SOLUTION: This image special effect apparatus 100 is configured to add illumination effects by the rays of light from a light source when it is seen form an arbitrary viewpoint in a plane with a flat surface and a curved surface to image information with respect to an input image, and to output a video signal to be obtained by mapping the image information on the plane. The special effect imaging device includes: a cosine value calculation part 4 for calculating the cosine value of an angle made by a viewpoint vector and a normal vector; a normal vector calculation part 7 for calculating vectors with the cosine value as viewpoint components and with (1-cosine value) or (-1+cosine value) as the components of horizontal coordinates as normal vectors for calculation; and an illumination effect calculation part for calculating illumination effects based on the normal vector for calculation.
