PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus forming both top-surface and reverse-surface images which are uniform in glossiness. SOLUTION: When the glossiness of a first-surface tone image is detected and fixation conditions of fixation of a second-surface toner image are set based upon the detection result, fixation conditions of fixation of the first-surface toner image and fixation of the second-surface tone image are so set that less heat is imparted to a recording material when the first-surface toner image is fixed than when the second-surface is fixed.
