PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens drive unit achieving the facilitation of the assembly of a drive motor, allowing the drive motor to appropriately link with a drive mechanism, made advantageous to miniaturization and desirably applied to the driving of the lens of an optical head. SOLUTION: The drive mechanism 3 for moving a lens frame 2 in an optical axis direction is housed in a nearly block-shaped main body 1, and the drive motor 4 is assembled to the opposite surface 10 of the main body 1. A base plate 5 is fixed on the front side of the drive motor 4, and the edge of a band part 50 extended from the edge part of the base plate 5 is erected to form a linking tab 6. A plurality of linking tabs 6 are equally arranged, and a recessed part 7 comprising a hole is formed at the erect part, and a projecting part 8 comprising a projection is provided at a corresponding part (side surface) in the main body 1. The recessed part 7 is fit to the projecting part 8 to be linked, so that the base plate 5 is assembled on the opposite surface 10 in a tight-contact state.
