PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of suppressing the occurrence of an image disturbance due to the variation in the surface speed of an intermediate transfer belt caused by a cardboard while reducing the delay in a nip advance timing of thin paper. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus guides recording paper toward a secondary transfer nip while bringing a guide means 100 into contact with an image transfer object surface of the recording paper delivered from a resist roller pair toward the secondary transfer nip by abutting the intermediate transfer belt on the secondary transfer nip, and secondarily transfers the toner on the intermediate transfer belt to the recording paper within the secondary transfer nip. As the guide means 100, the means constituted by cantilever supporting a plurality of flexible guide sections 102a consisting of flexible means respectively contacting the recording paper while lining up in a direction along the paper plane direction of the recording paper delivered from the resist roller pair and in a direction (direction of an arrow B in Fig) orthogonal to the conveyance which is a direction orthogonal to the conveyance direction of the recording paper are used.
