PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To offer a water shut off valve with a water hammer prevention function to prevent generation of water hammer. SOLUTION: A solid sphere 2 is located in the center section of a cylinder 2 having an inlet port 13 and an outlet port 14, and a valve seat 3 is provided. A diaphragm 5, an operation rod 6 for operating a valve element 2 and a check valve 9 are provided vertically to it. A functional section is provided with an adjusting screw for adjusting the valve closing speed not causing the water hammer phenomenon, i.e., the returning speed of a movable section.
