PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately perform sheet conveying control by continuously detecting the position of the sheet to be conveyed at all times or in a specified area. SOLUTION: This sheet conveying device comprises a pair of conveying rollers 1 for conveying sheets rotatingly driven with a drive force transmitted from a motor M1, conveying guides G1, G2, G3 for guiding the sheets conveyed by the pair of conveying rollers 1, 2, a sheet detection means for detecting the sheets guided by the conveying guides, and a control means 4 for controlling the conveying speed of the sheets by the pair of conveying rollers 1 according to the information from the sheet detection means. The sheet detection means is a sheet scanner 3 having an optical sensor layer formed by arranging photoelectric conversion elements formed of organic transistors and organic photo diodes continuously in a matrix shape. The sheet scanner 3 is installed in the area of the conveying guide G2 to continuously detect the sheets conveyed by the pair of conveying rollers 1 in a specified area. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
