PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cap fitting apparatus capable of keeping a cap containing powder in a hygienic condition and fitting the cap on a bottle mouth in a short time. SOLUTION: A cap transfer machine 2 includes a square tubular vertical transfer channel 21 provided at its bottom end 26 with a locking part 27 for fitting a cap C transferred from its top to bottom and a pressing means 22 mounted on the outer periphery of the channel 21 for pressing the cap C in the channel 21 downward. The means 22 includes a rectangular panel pressing member 23 whose end is formed with a tab part 23a, a driving cylinder 25 for moving the member 23 up and down and a connecting part 24 for connecting the member 23 and the cylinder 25. The side face of the channel 21 is provided with a slit 21a vertically, and the tab 23a inserted in the slit 21a abuts on the top edge of the cap C for pressing down the cap C downward.
