PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which can automatically set, on a printer substrate after change, individual equipment information which is the information during printing of the self-printer stored in a printer substrate before change. SOLUTION: The printer comprises a printer identification information storage section 11 to store printer identification information, a printer substrate detection section 14 to detect whether a printer substrate 30 is attached or not, an RF tag detection section 14 to detect whether an RF tag 21 is attached or not, a printer control section 15 to determine whether the individual equipment information on the self-printer 10 corresponding to the printer identification information is stored in the RF tag 21 or not, and a printing section 18 for printing by using the individual equipment information written in an individual equipment information storage section 32. The printer control section 15 writes the individual equipment information in the individual equipment information storage section 32 when it is determined that the individual equipment information on the self-printer 10 is stored in the RF tag 21 and when the printer substrate detection section 17 detects the printer substrate 30.
