PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the eccentricity caused by the laundry around the axis of rotation gathered to one side accurately and as immediately as possible. SOLUTION: The duty ratio of PWM signals for inverter-controlling a motor in five seconds after the start of acceleration is obtained as a reference value in accelerating the speed of rotation of a washing/dewatering tub from 120 rpm to 240 rpm. Then, the duty ratio is obtained at prescribed time intervals, and the difference from the reference value is accumulated. When the accumulated value exceeds a predetermined range, it is determined that the eccentricity is large, and the dewatering process is stopped to start the rinsing process. If the accumulated value of the difference is within the predetermined range in 10 seconds after the start of acceleration, it is determined that the eccentricity is small and the dewatering process is executed by the high-speed rotation for dewatering.
