The device has a measuring bar (1) for horizontal positioning on a head of a person to be measured. A sensor is provided for contactless determination of a distance between the measuring bar and a horizontal ground. An on/off switch (3) is provided for activating the measuring process, and a display (4) is provided for displaying the measuring result. A handle (2) for holding the measuring bar is attached to the measuring bar.
