摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device which can be improved in frame rate, can prevent a deterioration in resolution in a specified region, and can also form an image signal from a signal from a pixel in a region other than the specified region. <P>SOLUTION: The imaging device comprises an area sensor consisting of a plurality of pixels arranged in a matrix form, a driving circuit, a readout circuit, and a processor for processing signals transferred from the readout circuit portion. N is an integer of 1 or larger, and M is an integer of 2 or larger and is always larger than N. The driving circuit and the readout circuit perform a first readout operation of simultaneously reading out signals from N pixels in a first region of the area sensor, and a second readout operation of simultaneously reading out signals from M pixels in a second region of the area sensor other than the first region. The first and second readout operations are performed in succession within one frame period.
