<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device which can be improved in frame rate, can prevent a deterioration in resolution in a specified region, and can also form an image signal from a signal from a pixel in a region other than the specified region. <P>SOLUTION: The imaging device comprises an area sensor consisting of a plurality of pixels arranged in a matrix form, a driving circuit, a readout circuit, and a processor for processing signals transferred from the readout circuit portion. N is an integer of 1 or larger, and M is an integer of 2 or larger and is always larger than N. The driving circuit and the readout circuit perform a first readout operation of simultaneously reading out signals from N pixels in a first region of the area sensor, and a second readout operation of simultaneously reading out signals from M pixels in a second region of the area sensor other than the first region. The first and second readout operations are performed in succession within one frame period. First signals obtained from the first readout operation, and second signals obtained from the second readout operation, are transferred in succession from the readout circuit to the processing portion. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
