<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air cleaner capable of effectively performing gas exchange by a permeation membrane. <P>SOLUTION: The air cleaner includes the permeation membrane 21 having a first face 21a coming in contact with outside air in an outside air side space 23, and a second face 21b which is an opposite side face coming in contact with inside air in an inside air side space 24, and selectively permeating oxygen and carbon dioxide to uniform oxygen concentration and carbon dioxide concentration in the outside air side space 23 and inside air side space 24; and a photocatalyst 27 disposed in the outside air side space 23 and decomposing water vapor in the outside air to produce oxygen. Since water vapor in the outside air of the outside air side space 23 can be decomposed into hydrogen and oxygen, the oxygen concentration in the outside air side space 23 is increased to ensure the large difference of oxygen concentration between the outside air side space 23 and the inside air side space 24.
