FAULT POSITION SPECIFYING APPARATUS AND FAULT POSITION SPECIFYING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fault position specifying apparatus and fault position specifying method with which presence of a fault in a ray path and a position of the fault can be specified easily in a short time.

SOLUTION: The fault position specifying apparatus 1 is connected to a ray path 4 connecting a transmitting unit 2 for transmitting data to be communicated by an optical signal of a first wavelength and a receiving unit 3 for receiving data and specifies the position of a fault in the ray path 4, comprising a processing unit 16 for specifying the position of the fault in the ray path 4 by transmitting test light of a second wavelength to the ray path 4 and measuring the amount of a loss of test light at a plurality of positions in the ray path with reflection light of the test light when it is judged from the reflection light intensity of data that abnormality is present in the ray path 4.
