<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent unnecessary vehicle control targeting a standstill object not impeding the running of its own-vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: In a device for preventing the occurrence of collision by means of automatic breaking or alerting a driver when an intervehicle distance with a preceding vehicle detected by a radar becomes a predetermined value or smaller, as compared to a threshold (a moving object sensing threshold shown by the solid line) for the reflected wave reception level of the radar unit to sense moving objects such as the preceding vehicle, a threshold (a standstill object sensing threshold shown by the broken line) for the reflected wave reception level to sense standstill objects is set higher in a predetermined area. By this, it is possible to prevent a gate and a fall on the road not impeding the own-vehicle from becoming incorrectly recognized as obstacles, and to prevent unnecessary automatic breaking and alerting to the gate and the fall on the road. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
