PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To supply a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery capable of sustaining high capacity under high rate discharge by realizing a separator with high ion conductivity. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method includes a first process making an electrode group winding or laminating a cathode plate and an anode plate with an active material layer formed on a collector through a separator containing inorganic particles using polyolefin as a main material, a second process making the separator to be porous by forming a gap having a uniform bore diameter on surroundings of the inorganic particles by heating the electrode group and by heat shrinking the polyolefin, and a third process sealing the electrode group in a battery case together with nonaqueous electrolyte solution.
