PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily attain reduction in cost or weight by simplifying the structure and reducing the number of components. SOLUTION: The shock absorber comprises a piston 50 disposed movably to define the inside of a cylinder 10 to a liquid chamber 20 side and a liquid movement chamber 30 side, and a liquid distribution passage 51 provided on the piston 50 to connect the liquid chamber 20 side with the liquid movement chamber 30 side; a piston rod 55 provided on the piston 50 and extending out of the cylinder 10; a pressure control chamber 40 provided in relation to the liquid movement chamber 30 and capable of generating a reaction; and a seal member 60 which defines the liquid movement chamber 30 from the pressure control chamber 40 and is movable to the pressure control chamber 40 side based on the advance of the piston rod 55 to the cylinder 10. In this shock absorber, at least one of the seal member 60 and the pressure control chamber 40 includes an elastic force generation part 70 for giving restoring movement to the seal member 60 provided in an integrated manner therewith.
