PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical member for a transmission type screen where a luminance difference due to stray light is effectively prevented, and a display device. SOLUTION: Provided is the optical member for the transmission type screen equipped with an optical element (A) totally reflecting at least a part of light from a light source and an optical element (B) refracting and transmitting the light from the light source, and characterized by forming a transmitted light attenuating area in both of an area through which light made incident on the optical element (A) passes and an area through which light made incident on the optical element (B) passes, and attenuating the stray light by the transmitted light attenuating areas, thereby reducing irregular brightness of emitted light on the transmission type screen.
