PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress fretting between a steel cord of a carcass ply 1a and a steel cord of a wire chafer 5, in a pneumatic tire in which an end part of a radial carcass 1 is constituted by winding back the carcass ply 1a comprising the steel cord from inside toward outside in the tire radial direction around a bead core 2 and winding the wound back portion along the peripheral face of the bead core 2 and in which, in the tire cross section, at least one wire chafer 5 comprising the steel cord is arranged in a region positioned nearer to the tire surface 4 compared to the radial carcass 1 and including a portion corresponding to a corner part 2b in the bottom face bead flange side of the bead core 2. SOLUTION: A protection layer 8 is provided in a portion positioned between the radial carcass 1 and wire chafer 5 and at least corresponding to the bead core corner part 2b.
