PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use a common microcomputer and common software in each electronic control unit having different vehicle specifications. SOLUTION: An electronic control unit has a microcomputer mounted thereon for performing the operation for controlling an object to be controlled by executing a predetermined program, and has a plurality of grades, i.e., a first grade and a second grade in which a part of functions out of the functions equipped on a car in the first grade. An input circuit for constantly inputting a signal indicating that the object is not driven is provided on an input port of the microcomputer corresponding to the function not equipped in the second grade in the electronic control unit of the second grade.
