The weight per unit area of the web across the machine, is intentionally profiled. This is achieved by sectional reduction in its water-retention. An additive containing one or more chemicals, in a variety of possible combinations, is supplied for this purpose. It contains one or more of a: dewatering accelerator, dispersant, detergent, sulfonic acid or sulphonic acid salt, mixed sulphonic acids or sulfonates, aliphatic organic sulfonic acid, aliphatic organic sulfonates. The additive is a mixture of various sulfonic acids or sulfonates. It comprises at least one aliphatic organic sulfonic acid and/or at least one aliphatic organic sulphonate. It is a mixture of various aliphatic organic sulfonic acids and/or at least one mixture of various aliphatic sulfonates. One or more cyclic organic sulfonic acid and/or at least one cyclic organic sulfonate are included. It is a mixture of various cyclic organic sulfonic acids and/or at least one mixture of various cyclic organic sulfonates. An aromatic sulphonic acid and/or its sulfonates or salts are included. The organic sulfonic acid is p-toluolsulfonic acid and/or one of its salts. An inorganic acid is included. Ligno sulphonic acid or a lignosulfonate is contained. The additive is a mixture of various sulfonic acids and sulfonates. The chemicals are injected directly into the turbulence-generation insert in the headbox nozzle of the papermaking machine. It enters each turbulence channel in a row of them, within the turbulence compartment. The chemicals are added in separate layers in the Z-direction of the pulp suspension stream.
