<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ceiling-embedded luminaire capable of providing sufficient illuminance in a region of a bed of a patient without generating an uncomfortable feeling even to the patient. <P>SOLUTION: According to this embodiment, since a part of irradiation light emitted from a projection opening 51 can be appropriately shaded in a region below the projection opening 51 by a shading unit 6, even when this luminaire 1 is installed just above a nearly-central position of a bed 9 in a care room 9, it can be set to prevent a patient 4 lying on the bed 9 from looking directly at a light source 3.
