<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which carries out smooth image formation by preventing an image quality from being deteriorated when an illuminant array is inclined and attached, and to provide an image formation method. <P>SOLUTION: The illuminant array 1 has a plurality of sets of a single lens and a light emitting element array installed in a main scanning direction and a sub-scanning direction. The light emitting element array with a plurality of light emitting elements arranged in the main scanning direction is made corresponding to the single lens which has a minus optical magnification. An inclination of the illuminant array 1 is detected, and skew correction image data is formed by a skew correction control module 21. The skew correction image data is written in an MLA line buffer memory 38. A read-out address is determined by an MLA control memory read-out address generator 34 with reference to a main scanning direction reversion LUT 35, an in-group timing LUT 36 and an inter-group timing LUT 37.
