PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively suppress a temperature rise of fuel released to a return passage. SOLUTION: This fuel supply device comprises a fuel supply passage 4 for supplying fuel from a fuel tank 3 to an injector 2, and the return passage 5 for returning fuel that cannot be injected from the injector 2, to the fuel tank 3. The injector 2 in use is constituted to hold a needle valve in a position to close an injection hole for fuel injection based on pressure in a command chamber which stores high pressure fuel supplied from the fuel supply passage 4 and to move the needle valve into a position to open the injection hole by releasing the high pressure fuel in the command chamber to the return passage 5. The injector 2 is provided with an alternator driven by the flow of fuel from the command chamber to the return passage 5. Consequently, when the high pressure fuel in the command chamber is released to the return passage 5, the alternator is driven to lower the flow velocity of fuel in the return passage 5, i.e., kinetic energy of the fuel.
