PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for gravure printing which reduces abrasion of a doctor blade and enables improvement of the life of the doctor blade. SOLUTION: Equipment for gravure printing includes a plate cylinder 1 on the outer peripheral surface of which a printing area P having an indent-shaped printing pattern is formed in a prescribed width and which is rotated in one direction, a paste supply part 2 which supplies paste onto the outer peripheral surface of the plate cylinder and the doctor blade 3 which is disposed on the downstream side of the paste supply part in the direction of rotation of the plate cylinder and which comes into contact with the outer peripheral surface of the plate cylinder and scrapes off a surplus paste being present on the surface of the plate cylinder, while it is so provided as to be swingable in the direction of the width of the plate cylinder. A turning-back position in a swing of the doctor blade 3 is changed in every reciprocation, while a locus L2 drawn in the swing by the middle point between the turning-back position on one side and the turning-back position on the other is made approximately parallel to the outer edge of the printing area P. Thereby the fluctuation of the speed of consumption of the printing paste is held down and deterioration of lubrication in the scraping by the doctor blade can be prevented.
