The invention relates to methods for controlling an apparatus for transnasal insufflation (TNI) (1). A method allows the measurement of the actual temperature of the gas at the outlet of a humidifier (19). Another method allows the determination of a set temperature of the gas (34) at the outlet of a humidifier (19) of the TNI apparatus (1) in accordance with an ambiant temperature (25) of the TNI apparatus (1) or in accordance with a gas flow (28) in the TNI apparatus. An additional method allows the determination of a set temperature of the gas (34) at the outlet of a humidifier (19) of the TNI apparatus (1) in accordance with a comfort value (30) that is predetermined by a user or the adjustment of the heating power of a heating wire (26) in a nasal cannula (27) of a TNI apparatus (1) such that gas exiting the nasal cannula (27) has approximately the same temperature as the gas exiting a humidifier (19) of the TNI apparatus. The invention also relates to corresponding TNI apparatuses.
