The wall element is formed with the external and internal plate-shaped element. The plate-shaped elements are arranged to one another in an interval of 5 mm and are formed from a metal or a metal alloy. The granulate material is formed with expanded clay. The wall element protection against laser radiation, comprises an external and an internal plate-shaped element, and a cavity between the plate-shaped elements filled with a weakly filling of granulate material, which is formed from a porous and/or ceramics formed as a hollow body. The wall element is formed with the external and internal plate-shaped element. The plate-shaped elements are arranged to one another in an interval of 5 mm and are formed from a metal or a metal alloy. The granulate material is formed with expanded clay and is arranged between the plate-shaped elements enclosed in a flexible foil. An internal pressure is kept smaller within the foil in relation to the environment. A smoke detector, a temperature sensor and/or an optical detector are present in or at the wall element. The wall element is connectable with further wall elements. The wall elements with their cavities are connected together by openings.
