The security unit (1) has a plate-shaped base body (2) with a support bar (3) for a data carrier card, where the carrier card is located in a side surface. A spring tab (5) is provided in one of flat sides of the base body for engagement of corresponding projections within an insertion slot of a data carrier card reading device. The spring tab with a partial area protrudes over a surface of the flat sides of the base body. The base body is formed of plastic or sheet metal. The base body, the bar and the tab are formed in a single-piece.
