MANUFACTURING METHODS OF ACTIVATED CARBON AND ELECTRIC DOUBLE LAYER CAPACITOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide activated carbon most suitably applied to an electric double layer capacitor capable of yielding a large capacitance at a low material cost, or to other similar usage.

SOLUTION: A manufacturing method of the activated carbon comprises a step of obtaining a carbide by carbonizing a raw material obtained from sugarcane bagasse made in Okinawa or other places (particularly a rind portion obtained by separating the sugarcane bagasse into a pith portion and the rind portion) and a step of obtaining the activated carbon by subjecting the carbide to alkali activation.
