<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst support and a catalyst capable of efficiently reforming methane with carbon dioxide to convert methane into hydrogen, a source of clean energy or into synthesis gas comprising as its main components, hydrogen and carbon monoxide which are raw materials for preparing methanol, DME (dimethyl ether), and the like. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided the catalyst in which 1 to 10 mass% on metal basis of nickel or cobalt is supported on magnesium oxide powders having a pore diameter of 1 to 5 nm, a pore volume of 0.2 to 0.4 ml/g and a specific surface area of 100 to 200 m<SP>2</SP>/g that supports the nickel or the cobalt, or that in which 0.1 to 1 mass% on metal basis of a metal selected from platinum, palladium and rhodium is supported on the magnesium oxide powder. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
