<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type display device in which the number of components is reduced by simplifying the device. <P>SOLUTION: The projection type display device includes: a light source that emits a luminous flux; a color separating part that separates the light from the light source into luminous fluxes of a plurality of respective colors; a plurality of image display elements disposed so as to correspond with the plurality of colors; a plurality of emission side polarizing plates, which are formed from corresponding emission side polarizing elements and corresponding substrates holding the corresponding emission side polarizing elements, and which are disposed so as to correspond with the colors; and a combining prism that combines the luminous fluxes from the plurality of emission side polarizing elements. In such a projection type display device, a mounting member on which the plurality of image display elements, the plurality of emission side polarizing plates and the combining prism are mounted is formed from a single member made of metal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
