PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling air passage structure for a vehicle AC power generator which can avoid an intake of cooling air flow from the rear of the engine to improve the cooling performance of on-vehicle semiconductor elements and can suppress an increase in fluid loss to secure the flow amount of the cooling air flow. SOLUTION: The cooling air flow is blown into the cooling air chamber L between a second rear cover 10 and a first rear cover 6 from the upper end part toward the lower portion through a substantially L-shaped intake duct 11, and then dispersed and blown into the electric component chamber S disposed adjacent to the front side of the cooling air chamber L. The passage cross section area of the intake port 10a of the second rear cover 10 is narrowed by the passage cross section area of the intake port 11c of the intake duct 11, causing the cooling air flow to increase in a flow speed at the position of the intake port 10a to be blown into the cooling air chamber L disposed adjacent to the electric component chamber S in the axial direction. Thereby, the electric components in each section of the electric component chamber S can be sufficiently cooled, while reducing the necessary width in the axial direction of the cooling air chamber L.
