PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary electric machine which can further reduce circulating currents between strands more than before when executing 540°Roebel transposition (inverted thrice) of the strands, and can make equal in size a transposition pitch at every section in the longitudinal direction of an armature winding, with the armature winding manufactured easily and a cost reduction attained. SOLUTION: The rotary electric machine is constituted by executing 540°Roebel transposition of the strands wherein the respective strands of the armature winding are electrically dislocated 180°(inverted once) in 1/4 sections at the opposite ends of a mounting section, in the mounting section in the longitudinal direction of the mounting part 1A of the armature winding 1 equipped to the armature iron core and are electrically dislocated 180°(inverted once) in a 1/2 section at the center of the mounting section. In the respective strands of the mounting part 1A, two strands are dislocated in one lump sum in the 1/4 sections at the opposite sides of the mounting section and one strand is dislocated in the 1/2 section at the center of the mounting section.
