PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power storage device which can balance voltage in a short time, even when the dispersion width of the voltage across both ends of power storage elements is large, and can suppress unnecessary power consumption. SOLUTION: The power storage device includes, in parallel with the power storage elements 1, voltage equalization circuits 2 which comprise balance resistors 3, balance switches 5 connected between the power storage elements 1 and the balance resistors 3, discharging resistors 7 connected in parallel with the power storage elements 1 and having resistor value smaller than that of the balance resistors 3, and discharging switches 9 connected between the power storage elements 1 and the discharging resistors 7. After the balance switches 5 and the discharging switches 9 are all turned on during charging, only the discharging switches 9 are all turned off, if the condition, when the voltage of the power storage elements 1 is balanced, is satisfied, allowing the discharging resistors 7 having a lower resistor value to balance voltage only during charging, thereby shortening the operation time for balancing voltage, with unnecessary power consumption suppressed accordingly.
