PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electro-optical device and an electronic apparatus, in which the response speed of liquid crystal can be improved without performing overdrive processing. SOLUTION: Each pixel is composed of two or more adjacent sub-pixels as one group, each sub-pixel is provided with a pixel electrode 21, a common electrode 22 opposed to the pixel electrode 21 and a switching element 24 for electrically connecting a data line X to the pixel electrode 21 in accordance with a selection voltage applied from a scanning line Y.
