PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To calculate a lateral distance detection rate curve according to an arbitrary sonar search center azimuth. SOLUTION: A device of calculating the lateral distance detection rate curve comprises: detecting an azimuth for pointing to sonar beams from a vehicle for mounting a sonar by a sonar search center azimuth detection section 1; calculating a distance versus detection rate curve at a specific depth from a detection rate section distribution at a sonar search center azimuth by a distance versus detection rate curve acquisition section 2; calculating the maximum and minimum values in a range of not less than a fixed detection rate from the distance versus detection rate curve at a maximum/adoption detection distance calculation section 3; calculating a distance for passing from the maximum detection distance to the minimum detection distance for each lateral distance by a passage distance calculation section 4; calculating the number of search chances in the passage distance, based on an oscillation interval and an advance speed by a search chance count calculation section 5; and integrating the detection rate based on the search chance count and one ping detection rate by a detection rate integration section 6.
