PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measurement device capable of improving the measurement precision in the measurement of a cam profile and also capable of measuring the cam profile having no lift top. SOLUTION: The master profile constituted of a design profile S to be used for working a cam, a profile X leading in the phase to the design value profile, and a profile Y lagged in the phase angle to the same. The actually measured profile Z obtained by actually measurement is compared with the master profiles S, X and Y over the full ranges of the cam profiles. The master profile is selected so as to minimize the difference of the comparison value, the selected angular variable of master profile is detected as the displacement of angle of the knock hole center being the reference of angular direction of the cam shaft and the center angle of the cam.
