PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a bending apparatus which is not restricted in the bending direction even when a chucking mechanism is attached to an articulated robot. SOLUTION: The bending apparatus is provided with a fixed table 58 mounted with a bending mechanism 40 and also the articulated robot 2 on which the chucking mechanism 64 is attached and with which the chucking mechanism 64 is moved. The articulated robot 2 has a plurality of parallel articulates 6, 8, 10 which are turned around axes parallel to each other and orthogonal articulates 12, 14 which are turned around axes which are crossed orthogonally with the parallel axes. The chucking mechanism 64 is provided with a rotatably supported rotating member 72 and jaw members 74, 76 which are supported rockably with the rotating member 72, and the chucking mechanism 64 causes the rotating member 72 to slidably support a sleeve member 84 in which the material 4 to be worked is inserted in the longitudinal direction, and the chucking mechanism 64 clamps the material 4 to be worked by causing the jaw members 74, 76 to rock by moving the sleeve member 84.
