The method involves applying an increased volume of respiration gas intermittently with respect to a respiration volume provided for assisted respiration. One of parameters of respiration, flow and pressure is determined. Increased pressure of respiratory tract is applied between normal cycles of respiration or assisted respiration of a patient. A volume of respirated air i.e. tidal volume, is applied by the increased pressure of the respiratory tract with respect to a normal assisted respiration. Deep insufflations are realized by the adjustment of pressure. An independent claim is also included for a device for directing respiration gas.
