The method involves describing target route characteristics of a road vehicle e.g. bus vehicle, in a constantly differentiable form by a target route trajectory (SWT). A control signal is computed by a data processing unit (DV), and is generated from speed of the vehicle and target route trajectory so that a cross deflection between each steering axle center (A) and target route trajectory is minimum. A set of steering axels are guided along the target route trajectory formed from target route points (P), which result from position change of a center of an arbitrarily steered front axle.
